“Pirarucu, o peixe gigante da Amazônia” retrata a pesca desse gigante amazônico na reserva Piagaçu - Purus no estado do Amazonas. Em grande parte do Brasil, o peixe está extinto ou sob ameaça aguda. Muito diferente do estoque pesqueiro da comunidade do Itapuru onde cerca de 20.000 espécimes são abundantes nos 300 lagos da reserva natural da reserva. Isso tudo, graças ao morador Irailton Bastos da Silva, ele costumava trabalhar como pescador ilegal e agora vive para proteger os estoques de Pirarucu da Amazônia.
